4032 Aluminum round bar compositions contain 12.2% silicon to provide welding characteristics.  In addition, magnesium, nickel, and copper content allow the material to be heat treated to yield strength levels comparable to 6061-T6.  4032 Aluminum bar may be viewed as either a heat treatable type 4047 or a laser weldable type 6061.  Aluminum 4032 Laser welded covers for Microwave Integrated Circuits and similar devices with dimensions of 2” in length and larger are best fabricated from 4032 Aluminum alloy.  4032 Aluminum eliminates the need for hard coat anodizing used in high temperature forging applications.
