4047 Aluminum is typically supplied to meet the requirements of AMS 4185, QQ-B-365, HMS 2273, Mil-B-20148, Alloy 718, BALSi4, AWS5.8, UNS A94047, ASTM-B-247, AA4047, EN AW-4047A, and EN AW-Al Si12(A).

Laser welded covers for Microwave Integrated Circuits and similar devices have been fabricated from 4047 aluminum alloy due to the high silicon content (11.5%) which provides ductile welds with most common aluminum housing alloys. Covers with dimensions of 2” in length and smaller are best fabricated from 4047 aluminum alloy.

4047 Aluminum Alloy is an aluminum silicon brazing or filler alloy with good corrosion resistance. The main difference between alloy 4047 and it’s AL4043 counterpart is its higher silicon content. With 11-13% silicon, AL 4047 is generally used when high fluidity and reduced shrinkage and hot cracking is needed for specific repairs or manufacturing. Additionally, 4047 is suitable at elevated temperatures making it particularly useful in the automotive industry for parts and engine blocks.
